Back to the real world.

Well, spring break came and went, and I didn't do nearly as much homework as I would have liked. Oh well.

We did go dancing Thursday, which was a blast. I REEKED afterwards, which would be the reason I don't go out as much as I would like. I hit the shower as soon as I got home. Ick.

So we've been watching this show on FX called Black.White.. It's about two families, one white, one black, who put on makeup to look like the opposite race, and then they go out in public and see how they are treated. It's really interesting. I personally think that the black family looks for racism. I don't deny that racism exists, but honestly, he misinterprets a lot of things. Still, if you get FX, check it out. It's fascinating. It's on tonite at 9pm.

In other news, my beloved Florida Gators are in the Final Four!! Yay!! And the one year I don't put any money on my bracket....so sad!! Of course, I have them winning, just like every year. Ha. And now they actually have a shot at it.

Ain't that just the way it always is.

Saturday I went to the most elaborate bridal shower I have ever been to in my entire life. At an Italian restaurant downtown, in a private banquet hall, 75 ladies with a catered lunch and chocolate fountain with TONS of desserts, and honestly more presents than we saw at OUR WEDDING. It took 2 whole hours to open them all. Incredible. Everyone won a door prize (I got a way cool vintage coke glass). Maybe b/c I've only been to chintzy Mormon showers, but I did not expect a shower like this. Is this how normal bridal showers are thrown??? Enlighten me, please.

Well, my tummy tells me it's time for lunch. Happy Hump Day!

Shake it like a Polaroid picture

I can't believe it's already Thursday!! Ack!! I really haven't done anything school-wise that I was supposed to have done by now! Chicago was really fun. It was freezing, but we were in stores shopping most of the time so it didn't matter that much. We at at Gino's East for authentical Chicago deep dish pizza, and hit up Marshall Field's before it turns into Macy's. Somehow shopping is way more fun in Chicago than it is in Milwaukee. Buying something for the H&M in Brookfield just isn't the same compared to the H&M in Chicago. Maybe it's the higher sales tax in Chicago....

Yesterday I saw Memoires of a Geisha, which was SOOO good! A very beautiful movie, in all aspects. Makes me want to visit Japan even more.

Today I'm going to lunch with some ladies from church. Chinese...yum! Should be a lot of fun. Then tonite, I'm going out with friends from school. Dancing!! I think Derrick is a little bothered by this. I told him I was going dancing and he's like, "But you're married." Does that mean I can't have fun dancing anymore?? I just think he doesn't really understand what happens when I go. Well, I haven't gone since I've been married, but when I was single, my gilfriends and I would go up to Salt Lake and just dance all night. We wouldn't even dance with any guys. We just loved to dance!! I think Derrick is worried over nothing. But I'm sure I would feel the same way. What do you think?? Do you think it's wrong that I go out with GIRLS and dance with each other? I know myself, and I know I just wanna go shake it and have some fun!! Plus, it's Ladies' Night. It's free!

Well, time to be productive. At least a little...

Spring Break!

Today is the first day of my first collegiate spring break ever. And what am I doing to celebrate?? Absolutely nothing. Well, nothing exotic, at least. I have plenty of homework to do, plenty of housework to catch up on. And plenty of NCAA basketball to watch! I get sport-ed out pretty quickly on most occasions, but I LOVE March Madness. Unfortunately, this is the first year in many that I don't have cash riding on any of my brackets. So, it is a little less intense for me, but still very exciting anyway. Probably good I don't have money on them, since all 3 of my brackets are sucking pretty bad.

Tomorrow I'm going to Chicago with friends, so at least I'll be doing something vacation-y to celebrate spring break. And today is the official first day of Spring! Hooray! Now if it only FELT like spring...

Friday I was the emcee at our church's kids' talent show. We had it all decked out in St. Patrick's day decorations, but quite frankly, it looked like a gay pride fest in there. Everyone loved it tho. Sunday I had to speak in church, which I always dread. I spoke way to fast and ended early but everyone said I did a good job. You never know if they're just being nice or if they really mean it. I mean, who's going to come up to you and say, "Wow! That was really awful!!"

Well, I supposed I should get back to doing the things I really need to be doing. I have already wasted enough time on MySpace, which is the perpetual time waster. But so darn addicting.

Happy Spring, all!

Karma's a biotch, ain't it?

Next time, turn the car OFF before you cheat!

Personality survey

I got this from Sam--we'll see how the results turn out--if people do it.

Last night, for the first time in my entire life, I watched Pride and Prejudice. The new one, not the billion-hour one. (Lara, aren't you proud??) I liked it. It makes me want to see the other version, b/c that's all everyone was talking about during the new one. "They left this out", "This one's much better looking", stuff like that. So now I need to compare. I started reading the book a couple years ago but only got as far as when Lizzie goes to see Jane at Mr. Bigley's when she's sick there. Maybe I'll try again this summer. All in all, I thought Mr. Darcy was adorable by the end of the movie. He grows on you.

My right shoulder has been really bothering me lately, and I'm not sure why. It started hurting a little bit back when I was working at HK, I think from the repetitive motion of using the mouse, and the height it was at and everything. Then I noticed that it started hurting when I was driving and shifting. Now I'm going back to the gym and it hurts to use the free weights. I can feel the popping in my shoulder (crepitus is the correct term) and now I'm scared. Scerred. Hopefully it doesn't wind up to be something serious!!

We're going to TGI Friday's at Miller Park tonite. Should be cool--Derrick's been wanting to go forever. Hopefully it's as cool when there's not a game going on.

It was GORGEOUS today. The sun was out, and when you walked outside, you weren't cold!!! It was amazing!!! Too bad it's only going to snow next week.

Ugh, Wisconsin. Can't you get it together???

Me the missionary

Hola amigos. Today is a good day. It's Thursday, which means the end of my school week. And I found out today that I got a 91% on the Patho test I took on Tuesday. Score! It's raining out, which means it's not snowing. Bonus.

It's been a pretty interesting week at school. There has been a lot of conversation about BYU and Mormons and who we are and stuff like that. NOBODY here really knows what a Mormon is and what they believe. So I've been asked question after question about what we believe in and things we do and about temples and tithing and drinking and all sorts of stuff. My friend was even over on Tuesday to study and the missionaries stopped by and she was really curious about Mormons and the church and everything so she was asking them to explain. What I learned is, our missionaries SUCK, and it's going to be basically up to me to explain everything to people. I honestly have no faith in them to properly teach any of my friends. That's sad. But what I also learned is, I'm not very good at explaining the church! I never went on a mission, so I just don't have the experience that Derrick does in explaining, which he is really good at. I guess it's good practice for me tho. And it's good that no one has really heard of them, because I'll be their first impression, which is hopefully a good one. And then later on, when they encounter Mormons again they'll remember me and not think we're weirdos. We'll see if we can get any of them to come to church one week. Or at least read The Restoration Pamphlet. So if anyone has any good tips, let me know!

Last night I did something I rarely do. I voted on American Idol. A LOT. I voted for Elliot, who in my opinion has the best male voice in the competition. And I voted for Bucky. Not the best looking guy, but he's good, and I think they could spruce him up a bit. I know Chris will get through, so I didn't bother voting for him. It'll be hard to decide who will go home tonite, but my money is on Gideon and Will. Buh-bye. Oh, and I think Taylor looks like Bert from Sesame Street. And he sorta bugs me. That stupid leaning move. Ugh.

We watched this new show on FX last night called Black.White. It's really interesting. There's 2 families, one black and one white, and they put on makeup that makes them look like the other race. It's amazing. It's a 6 week experiment about how each family is affected by being the opposite race. Check it out.

Well, I should get going on some school related stuff before I head to clinicals.

Peace out girl scout! (Speaking of which, where ARE my cookies????)

Weak-end. heh.

It was a very low-key weekend. In fact, on Saturday, I didn't even shower. Ew. Friday night we went to dinner with friends to the Olive Garden, after which I felt sick for the next day. I don't know if it was coincidental, but the Oscars were last night and I watched a lot of movies this weekend. First up was Sideways. Paul Giamatti is just such a dorky looking guy. Too much talk of wine. Maybe if I drank I'd "get it" more. Next: Love Story. a 1970 classic that I LOVE. cry every time. I've been TiVo-ing classics of off TCM--month long special of all Oscar nominated/winning movies, commerical free. I have a lot on the box I need to watch! Lastly, March of the Penguins. Loved it! It was really interesting, and who doesn't love penguins? They are so darn cute. Plus, they scoot around on their tummies!

The Oscars were just so-so for me. Not that I ever really get into them, but I like to see what people wear. Charlize Theron's dress would have been ok had it not been for the watermelon-sized bow on her shoulder. Jon Stewart did an OK job, I think. There weren't too many people laughing at his jokes tho.

Disappointment of the week: Fallout Boy on SNL. They were TERRIBLE. It sounded just like a high school band, with a bunch of poser dudes hopping around on stage just banging on their guitar strings. Not impressed. I had wanted to see them next month when they came to town, but I think I'll just save my money.

Other than that, got a test tomorrow that I need to study for tonite. Then 2 tests next week and then Spring Break. Ahhhh. That is one thing that I like about UWM compared to BYU. We actually get a spring break. Because right about now, I need a break.

OK, gotta get back to class. Happy Monday!
