4 months!

Our sweet little Hannah was 4 months on Friday! I had planned on posting this then, but wound up taking Derrick to be admitted to the hospital. But that’s another post…

She’s growing steadily, but certainly not going to win any heavyweight championships anytime soon.

Weight: 12 lb 8.5 oz (27%)

Length: 23.5” (24%)

She is still as sweet as can be. She’s a very calm and relaxed kid as long as she’s fed and slept. My camera is on the fritz--it’s very temperamental and doesn’t take pictures when I want them to, like when she is smiling! So my choice of pictures this month is unfortunately limited. My occurrence of swearing, on the other hand, was rather abundant.

She is a great napper, and takes about 3 naps a day. I just swaddle her up and pop in her paci and she puts herself right to sleep. Same with bedtime. She usually goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:30 and will sleep until between 1 and 3, then may or may not wake up one more time to eat. She’s not very consistent, which drives me crazy. 4 months is when I usually let these kids cry it out and give up one nighttime feeding, but since we’re supposed to fly to LA on Thursday for 2 weeks, I decided to just wait until we’re back home before implementing any sort of changes.

I don’t start solids until 6 months, because let’s face it, she’s doing great with the boob and why introduce one more thing I have to do/make when I don’t have to? Besides, poop only gets stinkier the more stuff you add to it, and I’m already changing too many poopy diapers around this here joint.  zDSC_0215 Summer still loves her little sister and always wants to know where/how she is. Once, we were Skyping with my parents and she wanted to see their cat, but it was asleep. Now, whenever I tell Summer that Hannah is asleep, she ALWAYS tells me, “cat sleeping too!” She loves to give kisses and bring me burp cloths and pacifiers. A very good helper, indeed.

If Hannah is on her play mat, Summer wants to be on it, too. Here they are doing a little tummy time together.

Hannah has some eczema on her arms, legs, and cheeks. Summer had some on her cheeks when she was a baby, but I attributed it to kissing her cheeks too much and never said anything to the doc about it. So I thought I was doing the same thing to Hannah! But nope, just eczema. So there really is no such thing as too many kisses!

She also is a big time drooler. If you hold her for any length of time chances are you will walk away with a big slobber spot somewhere on you. I hate it when kids wear bibs all day long, but now I know why. Otherwise her shirt is soaking wet all day long! So if you know of any cute bibs, tell me about em.

She is my little buddy. I just love her to bits. My relationship with her is so different than it is with Summer, but I can’t explain it. I am just totally loving having a sweet baby around to love on.

Happy 1/3 of a year, Hannah B!

Meet the newest member of the family!

After breaking our backs last year shoveling our driveway, we knew a snow blower was  definitely in our future for this winter. We ordered it online on Black Friday and thanks to our favorite delivery service, picked it up the next day. Derrick and I put it together and tested it out a few days later and it’s a good thing, since it snowed yesterday! He took it out for its maiden voyage and had the driveway cleared lickety split!

Obviously this picture was not taken yesterday when it snowed, but the day we put it together.DSC_0088 Of course, since we bought one this year, we’re going to have record LOW snowfall levels. But better safe than frozen and sore!

What gives?

I have been SO emotional lately! What is the deal? I think it’s the holiday season that’s doing me in. Last month I was in Bath & Body Works and there was Christmas music playing and I was smelling a candle called Winter and I just started tearing up! And then I was watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade yesterday (yes, a few days late) and the Rockette’s were performing and started doing the high-kicking thing they’re famous for and started tearing up again! What the heck!

I’ve been feeling really queasy the past week or so, too.

Begin the Freak Out.

Could I really be pregnant already? Again? I love my sweet Hannah and have thought more than once that I’m already ready for another one. Or am I???

It would really be meant to be, since I’m still breastfeeding AND on birth control.

So I took a pregnancy test, convinced I was pregnant.

And I wasn’t!

Whew.

WHEW.
