Storytime

Once upon a time there was a boy:

Who met this girl:
They fell in love and got married.
One day, after 4 1/2 years of being happily married, the boy gave the girl a special hug...

...and knocked her up.

Yes, it's true, I am with child. 3 months prego. At this point, our child is the size of a lime.
How can something so small cause so much havoc on my stomach and skin? (Yes, this lime is the reason my face looks like it erupted.)

Also, how is it that I feel like a cow,

yet I've actually LOST weight from puking so much?

It's mind-boggling.

I'm due January 12, in the dead of a Wisconsin winter. That should be fun.

Maybe by July we should be able to unwrap it and actually see what it looks like.

We are super excited, and scared stiff all at the same time. Mostly, I'm terrified that my feet will permanently grow and I won't fit into any of my shoes anymore. Derrick, on the other hand, is thrilled with the extra boost my chest area has received, and is terrified it may be their last hurrah.

What have we gotten ourselves into???

Yay! Congratulations! Casey and I have been suspecting it for a while now. We're so excited for you guys. I hope you feel better soon! Try eating some soup... That's all that I could eat for 2 months.

Yay! Congratulations Karen-- I'm thrilled for you! And January 12 was my due date this year! In the mid of the Wisconsin winter, as well. It's crazy and fun! I rationalized that it was probably okay because I was going to be staying home/hibernating/recovering anyway-- and by the time the baby was old enough to be around other people and I felt like coming out as well, the weather was getting nice again.

I'm sorry you're sick. I hope things get better for you.

Congratulations!

How fun for you...well it will be. Sorry you are sick and breaking out. Do you plan to find out what you are having in an ultrasound or at the time of delivery? Congratulations!

ALSO--You MUST go and buy the book "YOUR PREGNANCY, WEEK BY WEEK" if you haven't already. It is SOOO cool to look in the book at what week you are, and you can see what your baby looks like, and what is developing, etc. It makes it extra special!

congrats. very exciting.
hope you start throwing up less.
I imagine the child's hair will keep it warm through those winter months, so at least you can stop worrying about that part.

What a lovely story...hope you feel better soon & I'm sorry about the breaking out thing - I feel for you there. While I was pregnant, my skin was worse than when I was in high school (sorry to break it to ya...it was a rough 9 months for the skin). Congratulations though!

Yippee! The more pregnant girls I surround myself with, the better I feel about my own size!!! We're excited for you guys, but couldn't you plan it a little better...January? In Wisconsin?

YEA!!! January is the perfect time to have a baby (Im a little biased though since that is when Lizzie was born). Baby doesnt want to go outside, you dont want to go outside- perfect combo.

Congratulations you guys!!! You're going to be such fun parents...I'm sorry you are so sick. Just make Derrick do everything for you and you'll feel better...unless he already does. It's a good excuse to get special treatment. Having a new baby is something to get used to, but it's also very fun! Yay! Congrats again...Spencer wants to say he's really excited for you guys too. Hopefully you can come out to Utah again and we can see your lime turned 8 pound child someday!

a frigid winter baby is better than being pregant through all the summer months. congrats! i expect you to be very large by the time i get back to Milwaukee :) (not really)

Yay! Congrats! The nice thing about being prego in the wintertime is that you most likely won't have your feet and ankles swell in the hot summer heat...p.s. for those who don't know, that's what they call cankles. But yes, your feet probably will grow. Good excuse to go shoe shopping right now.

Oh Joy! Now I can stop being jealous of all of your free time! We're so happy for you two!!!

Yeah! The news is out! My oh my, how I can relate with you about being sick...go and read my latest blog...although be fore-warned that you may go and vomit aftewards...so, maybe just have Derrick read it so he can sympathize with you,.

Your blog was so creative of how you spread the news...I loved the pics and the Once Upon A Time thing. Very cute!

My baby is the size of a grape, but I feel like a cow already 8 months prego...and look like it too!

What?!?!? Wow! Congratulations!! Becka and I will be the last ones to have kids.

If you think you feel like a cow now, just wait until you start nursing the kid. :) If I remember correctly the hanging key on a string trick predicted you would have a girl. (do you even remember what I am talking about? I hope so) So I know you aren't even asking yet, but I guess a girl. I am sure the string never lies.

yesssss! i'm so excited for you guys... congratulations to you and also your non-blogging husband. i had max on jan 20th, so i know how fun it is to be a freakin' whale at christmas. plus, by that time, you're really cheery as well - a real joy to be around.

and for the record, before i was pregnant - my feet were a 7 1/2. now, an 8. kinda sad.

but congrats!

Amy North said...

Oooooh honey, you think you're uncomfortable NOW?? Just you wait--those last 3 months are SOOOOO wonderfully miserable. :) Congrats, Karen! I can't wait to find out what you're having, and I'm so happy you found me! Honestly, though, the last 3 months might not be so bad. When I was pregnant with Caleb, I could've stayed pregnant another month and been ok, but this time, and I'm ready to get this kid out. Pregnancy is so different for everybody. Hooray for making babies!

you crack me up woman! Welcome to motherhood -derrick better get in his last hurrah - because trust me - they shrink after each kid. ;O

Congrats Derrick and Karen that is such exciting news! Can't wait to see what you are having! My McKenzie girl was born Jan. 6th, but it was nice to recuperate inside and not feel bad that you are missing something outside in the sun...made me feel better to think that way anyway.
