Holy moly, I think my feet are going to fall off.
Yesterday was the acutal wedding. The ceremony in the temple was really nice. Erica looked soooo beautiful. Her dress was gorgeous, too. Their pictures are going to be awesome.
In between the ceremony and the reception we wandered around town, heading down to Greenwich and SoHo. In our dress clothes. Big mistake. Heels and touristing=blisters.
We took a bus to the reception in the Bronx, which took an hour, so I got to rest my feetsies a little bit. You're in practically the ghetto and then BAM! you're at this gorgeous reception center. There was a ring ceremony first, which was beautiful. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous. After the ring ceremony was a cocktail hour, and this gigantic buffet line, including a pasta bar and carved turkey and ham. We were thinking that this was the reception. Everything was delicious. But was that it? Nooooo. There was a dinner afterwards! The hall was beautiful, there was a huge marble dancefloor, and at every seat was a fruit salad in a half-pineapple bowl. There were so many Italians there, it was ridiculous. So then there was salad, and then a lemon sorbet palate cleanser in a frozen lemon. We danced the whole night, in between all the courses. It was really fun. Then dinner was served--ribeye, salmon, or chicken. Yum! More dancing, and then they cut the cake, which was actually really good too. Then more dancing, and then the wedding singer (yes, wedding singer! who was awesome!) announced a surprise. The servers rolled out dessert. A table with a chocolate fountain, a table with crepes, coffee, and an ice cream cooler filled with ice cream sandwiches and push pops and klondike bars and all sorts of ice creams. It was incredible. So then we were told to sit down, that there was more to come. Out come 6 or 7 more tables that they arranged in a half circle--all loaded with tons of desserts. Cheesecakes, pastries, fruit, ice sculptures. It was unbelievable, and probably the most extravagant wedding I have ever attended in my life. It was super fun, and the perfect celebration for Jason and Erica. They are the perfect couple, MFEO. (For you non Sleepless In Seattle watchers, that means Made For Each Other)
Today we got up early and waited in line for Student Rush tickets to see Tarzan. We were second in line, so we ended up getting some. Front row, center tickets for $20! Nice! Of course, we had to wait 3 hours to get the tickets, but hey! $20! The show was really good, lots of swinging around and high up stuff, which may have been better looking from farther up, but oh well. The music was great, and Tarzan was freaking HOT. His bio said he made it to the finals of American Idol, but I don't recognize him.
After the show we headed down to Wall Street to look for the Joseph Smith statue but it was gone. I guess the last day was today...just our luck! Then we walked down to Battery Park and took the train back up to Midtown to find someplace to eat. We had heard Tao was really good so we headed there. We walked in and they said they didn't have any open tables for the night, and we felt underdressed so we left. So we walked around and around and around looking for somewhere to eat. Well, we finally ended up at McDonald's. Ha. We went from Tao to McDonald's. How about that for a downgrade??
Now we are exhausted, and delaying the fact that we have to pack it up and get ready to part ways tomorrow. Derrick heads back to Milwaukee and I'm going to CT for Morgan's graduation. We'll see how I last for a week with my family. 8 people in one house with one bathroom? Yikes.
Blogger is being goofy right now or I'd upload more pics. I guess one's the limit tonite. More later, perhaps.
Need. Sleep.
