Chi-town

Mini trips are seriously the best ever. We just got back from Chicago for the weekend, where we met up with some friends from LA. It worked out well that they were coming, b/c we were planning on celebrating Derrick's birthday down there anyway. Now we're back home, and that means school and work tomorrow. Boo.

We met up on Friday and had some amazing sushi at a place called Marai. It's always nice to go with other people who are NOT allergic to shellfish b/c I get to try new things. We also had a lot of nigiri, which we don't usually get b/c it's just too much fish and too much to chew through, but at this place, it was like buttah--melted in your mouth. Yum. A whole new outlook on nigiri.

Saturday we woke up late and hit the gym in the hotel. We had breakfast in the hotel, which is sooooo good! Case in point: I had waffles with caramel bananas and cinnamon gelato. Doesn't that just sound delicious? Then we just walked around the city and shopped, but didn't buy anything. The city was packed-everyone out Christmas shopping already. I love that kind of scene-lots of people-watching, Christmas decorations, crisp weather. We were hungry again after walking around so much, and we had dinner at Fogo de Chao, a brazilian steakhouse. Again, tasty vittles. I rekindled a romance with Waldorf Salad, which my mom used to make growing up. Apples, raisins, mayo. Sounds gross, but it's not. And I'm not a huge mayo fan. After dinner we saw Jersey Boys! I've been dying to see this for ages! I love Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and we used to listen to the CD at BYU all the time. In fact, Maria used to call it "that oldies CD that I like". So of course, I thought of her during a lot of the songs. It was a great show, with rather colorful language, but it gives the songs new meanings when you see the story that went along with it. If you get the chance, see it.

Another yummy breakfast at the hotel and then we were off. Dropped off our friends at the airport and hit the road. Now I should be working on a paper, but I feel yucky and can't quite get myself to do it yet.

I just found out my cousin was in a terrible accident. He got crushed between a bus and a tractor and is in critical condition. So any prayers you can spare are definitely appreciated.

I heard Tom Brady is being considered as the next Calvin Klein underwear model. Could life get any better???
