Yesterday I went to the local garden supply store and got everything I need to plant a mini-garden on our balcony. We live on the top floor of a south-facing 2-story building, underneath an overhang, so our little ledge gets little to no sun. Solution: hanging flower boxes!
I planted strawberries, basil, parsley, chives, Roma tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, and I picked up a cilantro plant at the farmer's market today, along with some garlic, new potatoes, rhubarb, and cheese curd-like "salad toppers".
Nothing like fresh produce that hasn't been sitting in a nasty truck for thousands of miles! Now let's hope my plants don't die. Or fall to their deaths.

What a great idea!
farmers market? where??
Yay for you! I hope they all do well. Which farmer's market did you go to? What are you making with that rhubarb?
Karen! You should help me teach the gardening class on Saturday! FYI Menomonee Falls has a farmer's market every Wednesday in the parking lot of North Jr. High (on the south side of Main Street, just west of the intersection of Main and Appleton) from May to November.
Brown Deer has one at the Lowe's on 60th/Brown Deer Road on Wednesdays.
So ambitious woman!!!
Makes my tummy grumble...yum;)
Your apartment complex looks cute! I wish we had a balcony. And more money.
Hey did I tell you I got back in contact with Bekkah from TS?
ps, the word verification word I had to put in was "fingred."
