Does anyone remember the "Sewing with Nancy" TV show? It was mostly on public access types of channels. And she could only talk out of one side of her mouth. Kind of creepy. But dang could that lady sew.
My cousin Jessica made this awesome diaper bag that she got from this tutorial, and I immediately wanted one just like it. So I talked Linda into making one with me. We started Wednesday, and I finished yesterday. Half the time was spent cutting out the stupid pieces of fabric and ironing on the interfacing.
I was nervous to start, seeing as how I've never sewn in a zipper, made gusseted mitered corners, uses snaps, or sewn in elastic, but I figured I'd never learn if I didn't just do it. And do it I did.
I love how it came out. This is going to sound SUPER nerdy, but as I was sewing the last few stitches, my heart started racing and I was getting all excited that I was almost finished. It was like a total high to finish something. I feel way more confident in my sewing skills now. Heck, I'm actually using the bag, that's how awesome it is. It's not an embarrassing piece of crap like some of the things I've tried making in the past.
I realize this is a totally lame post, but I was so excited to finish it. I felt like such a badass when I was done.

Great job! I want to make one of those.
VERY cute!! Great job. The sewing machine and I don't have much of a relationship.
Yay!!! I am so proud of you! Eric LOVES the interior.
You feel badass because that IS badass. So wicked cool! I need a new messenger bag and I think I'm going to actually sew it. We'll see if it comes out as cool as yours! ~Love, Rose
It turned out soo cute!
So cute! I totally want to make one too. Although I'm sure it would be quite the learning experience for me too! Sounds fun!
You ARE a sewing Rockstar! I'm way impressed, but not suprised, you are ubertalented and it is super awesome!
ooh la la. very impressive. seriously, you are muy crafty.
wow! First of all, how do you have time to do this? and second...you do rock. I am proud of myself if I sew a straight line and it does not fall apart...never done a zipper nor do I ever want to try! The zipper footer scares me! Very impressed.... :)
Nancy (cough cough) I mean Karen - you are completely impressing me! I want time to do stuff like this!!!! Or maybe I will find people like you and kiss your butt until I get you to make me one too! :) (Or just pay you lots of money). :)
So cute Karen! I am too scared to try out something like this.... but your bag turned out so awesome!!!!!
Lol. Dude....you and your sewing is OUT OF CONTROL!
That diaper bag is so cute! I am so impressed. I too am really getting into sewing. And it's kind of embarrassing that I like it so much. I used to make fun of such domestication, but now I realize that you can do so many cool, unique things if you know how to sew!! It's awesome.
Very cute! Good job! She has a store by the way in WI called "Nancy's Notions" and they have monthly classes and sometimes she teaches them. For the die hard sewer you're becoming you might wanna check it out.
I love it!
Oh, one of these days I am going to have my little Tanner call you to tell you some of the jokes he has learned. They remind me of you! :)
This bag is so cute! You should sell them at your etsy store for sure! You could make a bundle. My sisters would totally buy them. Much better than anything you can buy in the store!
Holy F, yes you are a sewing rockstar. That thing's amazing.
Even cuter in person! Way to sew, K!
