Disappointed

Last night Derrick took me to see Twilight. Finally.

I didn't love it.

I would not see it again.

I don't think Edward is good looking. In fact, I thought Charlie was better looking than him. Am I weird or what?

I just kept imagining if I hadn't read the books. Honestly, I don't really know how anyone really liked it without having read them. It was really choppy, I thought. And really slow. And then BAM! The end!

I know it's always the case with books-into-movies, but the book was SO much better. So much was left out.

And it was so cheesy. Multiple times I laughed out loud at how cheesy a scene was.

I left the theater feeling unsatisfied.

I shouldn't be surprised. I didn't think I was going to like it, and I didn't. So why am I so bummed out? I guess because I haven't talked to anyone who didn't love it and gush over it. I feel like a freak for not liking it.

Oh well.

Yea! Finally someone who agrees with me. I went to see the movie with all of my sisters and they ALL loved it except for me. They thought I was crazy and I thought they were all crazy for liking it. It's nice to know, FINALLY, that I am not the only one who wanted my money back after seeing that ridiculous cheesy movie!

I think that the reason I liked it was because I went into it with EXTREMELY low expectations. I saw enough of the previews to know that it was going to be low budget all the way. I laughed a few times myself. I thought the script was a little too mechanical and after reading about what a God Edward was supposed to be, I was dissapointed in the movie version as well (although he has started to grow on me). I am hoping that with the money this one made they will have a bigger budget for the next one.

I agree! I thought there were a ton of awkward pauses and the parts that were supposed to be touching had no connection for me. I didn't think Bella and Edward's relationship was deep enough for the ending. And during the last fight scene I totally laughed out loud because Edward and James faces were funnier than they were tense! I wouldn't recommend it to someone who hasn't read the book because that definitely wouldn't inspire them to read it!

I'm so glad to hear you say it. I was the only one out of our group of seven who didn't like it. It left out so many of my favorite scenes from the book, and I don't know how anyone would get what was going on at all, so choppy. And didn't it seem like they weren't really that into each other?

The whole time I kept thinking about how glad I was that David wasn't there-definitely a movie for only those who have read the books. The books are much much better and I'll be honest I didn't even really love the books so you can imagine what I thought of the movie!

Good thing I didnt see it or read the book. I believe I'm the freak for not doing either!

I have no interest in reading the book or seeing the film any time soon, but you're not the only person I've heard say negative things about the movie.

I second Samantha in that I have no interest and no nothing about it, but I say the opposite - I haven't heard anyone say anything great about the movie. All my friends had a midnight party, got all worked up, etc., but most just walked out repeating what you wrote.

Are you really surprised? The trailer for the film didn't even look very good. Anyone that I know that has liked the movie has sounded like they really had to talk themselves into that.

I know one girl who was so pumped for the movie, saw it Thursday at midnight, didn't like it, saw it again Friday matinee, still didn't like it, saw it again Saturday, finally decided that she kind of liked it. Not everyone is that much of a freak...but geez. It sure did take a lot of convincing for someone going in with a predisposition toward already liking the film.

i'm glad to hear your honest review. i enjoyed the quick reads but i didn't find the books all that fabulous (of course i read the frist 3 just to be sure). i been hesitant to see the movie and this sealed the deal!

I LOATHED the movie! I thought the casting was OK, but it was a CHEESE FEST!!! I think that may have been the real reason behind the swift departure of the director from the franchise. Hopefully the new director will have less "cheese" with his installments.

My favorite line was when he called Bella "Spider monkey". That is something I would call Tanner or Davis, not Skyler. I laughed a lot (not because it was a funny movie). But, I think what bugged me in the movie was the same things that bugged me in the book. Especially how she instantly falls madly in love with him after he offends her and then she just stares at him a lot, then BAM they are inseperable. I don't think it will be possible to do the second movie without it being cheesy, I mean how on earth are they going to do the wolfs? I enjoyed it but didn't love it. Edward isn't hot to me either.

Karen - I was told by 98% of my friends that it was awful and I would laugh the whole time.....so don't feel like you are alone. Many people out here thought exactly what you thought. I still have not seen it - don't have the time to "waste" yet.
