T minus one month and counting....

Well, we're down to the wire. 31 days left. One month. 4 weeks. Yikes.

Last Saturday we figured we should probably get our acts together and get the rest of the stuff we needed before this kid shows up. We started out with breakfast at the Original Pancake House, which is sooo delicious. I mean, where else can you get pancakes with BACON baked right in??? Oh man, so good. SO GOOD. Then we got right down to business and bought a crib mattress, baby monitor, diapers, wipes, pack-n-play/basinette and other random things. My super awesome purchase of the day was a baby swing I found on Craigslist. It's one of those that go back and forth and side to side, and they're $150 in the stores. That's a whole lotta money for a freaking swing. But not on Craigslist!! I snagged a practically new one for $40. Holla.

Yesterday at work I was contracting all day, and they were painful. So, I pretty much just sat around all day. But it kind of got me thinking that I should be a little more prepared. So today I washed the baby clothes, and finally packed a hospital bag. Wednesday I interviewed pediatricians and decided on one. I gotta tell you, this has all freaked me out a little bit. I mean, am I ready for this? For feedings every 2-3 hours? For no sleep? I feel like I'm so not ready in so many ways, but I'm so excited to meet this little person who beats my insides up every night. It's still all very surreal to me that we're actually going to have a baby. It's like I'm just going through the motions, getting everything ready. It so does not feel real to me. I don't really think it will hit me until we bring her home. And I can't send her back to the nursery. :)

Here's a pic for your viewing enjoyment. Me, at 35 weeks. I would post more pictures, but I never remember to take them until late at night, when I look and feel like poo, and I don't really like half the pictures that Derrick takes. I don't really like this one, but alas, I sacrifice for my dedicated readers.

I had a dream last night I was an ice skater. A really good ice skater. And I was ice skating with 'N Sync. It was so awesome. And so weird.

Karen, what the heck? I looked like you do now when I was only 3 months preggors! You are adorable and I will be sure, the next time I am pregnant, not to post any of my pics because I would not look as cute as you do. I can't wait to see who your baby will look like!

I agree, Sarah, and Karen knows this, that I was always bigger than her. But I was bigger than you Karen before you were pregnant so I guess that makes sense.

I should stop commenting on every one of your blogs, you probably think I'm stalking you.

You're right though, that it isn't real at all until you have the baby. Nothing can really prepare you. Even then it's not real sometimes...you're such a no sleep zombie...

You are so close! Enjoy it!! Are you taking 3 months off or so, or are you quitting now?

I can't knock it until I've tried it, but bacon in the pancakes? That doesn't sound at all good to me....

We're so excited for you guys to have your little girl! People would always tell me to enjoy my sleep before the baby came, but I never imagined how bad it could actually be. Having a baby has changed my sleep permanently. I sleep so lightly now that every little noise wakes me up! Now Casey has to sleep next to the bassinet so I can at least get enough sleep to survive. But before I scare you, know that things get better every week. I would keep telling myself that everyday and it helped me to get through hard times.

You look great! And gotta love the pregnancy dreams. Did you get a good deal on your crib mattress? I need to get another one this week and am hunting for a bargain. :)

I can't believe that is an almost 9 month belly! I can't get over how little your belly still is. I'm excited for you guys, I don't think anyone can really prepare themselves for what awaits them once they take that sweet little babe home.....we may be wishing we had let them cook a little longer in the belly before they overtake our once very peaceful nights sleep.

I think I've devoted several blog posts JUST to Original Pancake House. YUM!!!

On the baby...I well remember that "countdown" feeling. You're scared, terrified, calm, serene, terrified, anxious, unsure, etc. etc. In fact, my first reaction when they said "Let's hook her up and get this baby out!" was "WAIT! CAN I CHANGE MY MIND???"

Definitely know what you're going through. Write all these feelings down in a journal. It will be fun to read them to your sweetie when she's older.
