Wednesday night was a dream come true. Kohl's offered their associates a huge discount on Dyson vacuums. Combine that with additional associate discounts, a pick a day, and bounce back cash, they practically paid US to take a Dyson off their hands. Seriously, it was cheeeeap. Derrick needed a little convincing that we needed one, but all it took was telling him we'd soon have a little person on the floor that would put everything in her mouth. :) Sold. We put it together right away and then I vacuumed just our living room. I was shocked at what I saw in the canister. Tons of dust. Tons. It was gross. I should have used our old vacuum and then the Dyson to see just how crappy our old one is.
Love at first swipe.
Speaking of floor care, I hate mopping. It's a good thing I have a teeny kitchen. I'd much rather just get down on my hands and knees and scrub up a little spot than get out the mop and all that jazz. I've been using this floor cleaner since we've been married:
I mean, literally, THIS bottle. One bottle has lasted over 5 years. See? I told you. I NEVER mop. Don't judge. I know my mom is hiding in embarassment. I'm thinking I'm going to have to be a little better about mopping once this rugrat arrives. Well, I guess I have a little time before she starts crawling....

We have two doorways on our teeeeny kitchen, and I just don't want her in there at all, too dangerous. So we have gates on both doorways. Just do that and you can continue your non-mopping streak!!
I got your thank you note, so thank you for the thank you! I sense that my rude comment back on one of your blogs about politics made you mad, and I don't blame you, so I apologize. To all. I need to hold my tongue, and be nicer.
And, I love that color yellow of your shirt.
Dyson=love
thanks for pushing David in the right direction to get one!
So jealous! I want a Dyson sooo badly!! Kids make a for good persuasion.
we considered that same Dyson deal. i'm glad we didn't because now i'll just borrow yours :) ha,ha. jk. but, maybe next year.
I made the mistake of telling my husband how much I loved my Dyson. You need to be careful; husbands are very jealous by nature. He actually shot ours with his 45. He was attempting to "cycle" some new bullets through his gun and didn't realize there was one still left in the chamber when he pulled the trigger to decock/uncock (I'm not up on me gun terminology). It shot through the bedroom wall into our laundry room where it killed my brand new Dyson. It is now back up and running $120 later.
Karen,
You need to get a Swiffer Jet. EASIEST way to mop ever and it smells great and does a great job. Seriously... no water... no mess... no fuss. 5 minutes and you are done. You tear off the pad and throw it in the garbage.
Chiggidy check it out.
This post was hilarious....your one bottle of fabuloso...wow...
Did you wear yellow to match the pic of your Dyson? Why are you on the floor anyway, are you not super uncomfortable as it is...and then you are on the floor?
When is this baby girl coming??? I am thinking anyday now b/c I am for sure counting down my days...
Send belly pics!!
I am so jealous!!! Have fun with it! OH and I don't mop ever...so whatever!
I love that commitment to the pic. Love it.
It's funny that this post would have so many comments, isn't it? Who knew more people would give more love to a post about vacuum-love than Neil. What a crazy world we live in.
