Deep in the heart of Texas!

Well, we're back. And we survived. Summer was a champ on all flights. Awesome. But who wouldn't be sucking on a boob for 2 hours straight? She slept for most of it, and when she wasn't sleeping, she was checking out her new surroundings. The stroller cover proved successful, and even though I felt kind of lame using it, I was glad I did when we landed in Milwaukee and another family with the same stroller as us found theirs with a wheel snapped off. Suckers.

Highlights:
  • Warm weather. While rather humid, the warmth was very welcome. Poor Summer was a hot sweaty mess the whole time, and her hair was matted to her head most of the time, but at least she knows what it feels like to sweat now.
  • Good food. If there's one thing my family knows how to do, it's eating.
  • Hanging out with my cousins and their kids.
  • Playing games.
  • Seeing our friends Matt & Seena Swinyard, and their son Caleb, who I knew in Florida, and now live in San Antonio.
  • Handing off Summer to Grandma and Grandpa while I slept.
  • SONIC!! With no huge lines!

After a ride on the motorcycle.

At Kreuz Barbecue. Deeeeelish.

It was just a touch windy that day.

With Matt & Seena & Caleb

In small town Martindale.

My cousin's 3 kids on the bottom, my cousin at the top.
I told my cousin's son Rocky to pose and this is what he gave me. I have many more pictures of equally stunning yet different poses. He's 4.

The model's proud mama, my cousin Jessica. Love her. I don't love how pale I look next to her.

4 generations of Barrios women! As my mom said, we're watering down the gene pool.

Overall...definitely different traveling with a rugrat, but definitely doable. Here's to lots more trips!

It's not often I actually click off of my google reader to a blog to make a comment. But oh my gosh. That picture of Summer's hair is soooooo freaking hilarious! I am still laughing while writing this comment. Such an awesome pic, I think it's about to become my screen background...

Summer totally reminds me of you in one smiley photo on the plane. How neat to have all of those generations together too. Is she the first great-grandchild?

Totally love all the pics, your editing is getting good! Looks like a fun vaca. Derrick looks seriously tough in his post-motorcycle pic! Love that one.

So I need to learn how to add a small pic to my name when I comment so I don't get confused with other Jessica's, you'll have to show me sometime.

What a cute smiling picture of her!!! She's getting big. Don't you think sweating babies is the saddest thing!??! Traveling with Zara when she was 6 weeks old was hard but not too bad, but when she was a year and a half...made me want to avoid plane travel, or...travel... especially as we add more to the family. I have way more sympathy for moms traveling alone with lots of kids.

Hahaha. Why is it that I never knew you were Hispanic. Does that make me a bad friend? Hahaha.

That windy day picture of Summer totally made me laugh out loud. I can't get over how much hair she has! She's so adorable.

Yes, great pics Karen. I see you're mastering the Photoshop. I like the color dodge technique you used on little baby Summer. Also what did you do to the Derricks motorcycle pic to make the background darker than the subject?

I hope to see you on my vacation. I sent you an email, did you get it?
