Concerts

I love seeing live music. I feel like I saw a lot during college, quite a bit when we first moved to Milwaukee, then kids came we hit a long, dry, broke period. It’s picked up some in the last little bit and I am loving it. There’s just something about seeing a band, especially one of your favorites, play live, right in front of you. All the songs so familiar to you, almost like they are playing them just for you! I just love it.

Last summer on our road trip I made a list of all the concerts I’ve been to. Derricks list would be longer—he saw a lot of shows in the 80’s and 90’s with his older brothers. My first concert was Alanis Morissette when I was in high school. So I was late to the concert-going party. So here they are, in no particular order…just in the order I remembered them. A lot of them were at music festivals…Summerfest, Big Ass Show, etc.

  • Alanis Morissette
  • Cake
  • Luscious Jackson
  • Shania Twain
  • Clay Walker
  • Styx (twice)
  • REO Speedwagon
  • Maroon 5
  • Hoobastank
  • Peter Frampton
  • 311
  • Green Day
  • Britney Spears
  • Nicki Minaj
  • Silversun Pickups
  • Foo Fighters
  • Keane
  • All-American Rejects
  • Carolina Liar
  • American Idols on Tour
  • Jimmy Eat World
  • Gym Class Heroes
  • Ben Fold Five
  • Neil Diamond
  • Spitball
  • Dumb Luck (Who later turned into The Used)
  • Reel Big Fish
  • My Superhero
  • Collective Soul
  • Brett Michaels
  • OAR
  • Kansas
  • Beyonce
  • America
  • Constantine Maroulis
  • Rooney
  • Bridges
  • Peter Breinholt
  • Lucas Cates Band
  • Justin Bieber
  • Paul McCartney
  • Boyz II Men
  • 98 Degrees
  • New Kids on the Block

Edited to add:

  • Bon Jovi
  • Goo Goo Dolls

While it’s not a huge list, I’d say that’s quite a musical range! If I had to pick top 3 concerts, I’d have to say Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, and Keane. Paul because, well, it’s Paul. The Foo Fighters show we saw at Summerfest last year and it was AMAZING. Dave Grohl is an animal. A sexy, sexy animal. They played for like 3 hours, no breaks. We couldn’t hear for like 2 days afterwards, but it was so, so awesome. And Keane…well, I just love Keane. And I saw them at the Rave, and I was super close to the stage and they were just so into their music and I just loved it.

Still on the bucket list: Elton John, Billy Joel, Justin Timberlake. I’m super bummed I never saw Michael Jackson before he died.

Viva la musica viva!

I've been to like maybe 10 concerts so your list is very impressive!! I was just looking up concerts for Merrick's birthday and I saw Justin Timberlake is in Nashville on Nov 15. :) It's only a 10 hr drive and you could come stay with us! :)

I am amazed! Crazy that Derrick has been to even more! I am way jealous you got to see J.E.W. I would run naked through a parking lot to get tickets to see them :)

Impressive because my list is: Richard Marx, Tom Petty, Chicago, Lucas Cates, and Big Time Rush. And there's almost 20 years between Chicago and TLCB.

You have the most diverse taste in music.

Bro Becker

Who is the Frampton fan? you or Derrick? When did you see him? He is very underrated as a guitar player.

Nick...I saw Frampton on a date while living in Alabama for a summer. It was a great concert...we were probably the youngest there!
